Virtual Sets for OBS (Open Broadcaster Software)

Virtual Sets for OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) - from virtualstudiosets.com

Visit the Virtual Studio Sets STORE for OBS virtual sets

Our virtual sets are available in a variety of formats – vMix, Photoshop (plus every layer saved as separate lossless PNG images) and special TriCaster® VSE-compatible Photoshop versions.

If you want to use our sets with OBS, choose the version that includes PNG images (it will be labelled ‘Photoshop / PNG format’). The sets are supplied as separate image layers that include transparency, so you can add them one by one to OBS to create your studio set.

PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is a file format for images that can be read by most systems and they’ll load into OBS just fine. PNGs use LOSSLESS compression – so they’re small, but still at original (maximum) quality.

OBS compatible virtual sets

These are just a few examples. Please take a moment to check out our complete range of virtual studio sets.

OBS (Open Broadcast Software) compatibility

PLEASE NOTE: There are some things that OBS can’t do (at the time of writing this!), so some angles from our virtual sets may include features that either won’t work as intended with OBS, or may require work-arounds. The main issue is when the sets feature screens or monitors in perspective – see (1) below.

1. screens / monitor images

OBS doesn’t appear to allow you to ’tilt’ or distort layers in 3D, or to add ‘perspective’, without plug-ins. This means that if you want to use one of the (virtual) screens in our studio sets, it will need to be completely (or very nearly) straight on to the camera. In some cases you could turn the screens off completely, but if the screen can’t be removed and is ’tilted’ with respect to the camera, you might find it impossible to match your content layer to the screen. You might be able to use a plug-in to match the perspective distortion, or you could distort the source before it reaches OBS (for example, corner-pinning a still image using Photoshop), but it in some cases it might not be possible at all. Please just double check before making your purchase as we cannot offer a refund once the files have been downloaded (see our End User License Agreement (EULA) for more details).

2. reflections

OBS will allow you to flip a layer vertically to create a mirror-image (Transform > Flip Vertical), so you can create duplicate layers and flip them to make the reflections. Some of our sets would normally use UV gradients to distort the layers for reflections, but you should be able to get an almost identical result by positioning your reflections ‘by hand’. If it isn’t working for you, all of our studios that feature reflections in the desktop or floor will also include opaque layers that you can use to hide the reflections completely.
